A karahi is the deep, two-handled wok the dish is cooked and often served in. The cooking is hot and fast, so the sauce reduces and clings to the meat, and bone-in chicken gives the gravy extra body.
Ours is cooked in a thick gravy of onions, tomatoes and yogurt and garnished with ginger, coriander and lemon slices. At Ancaster it is freshly garnished with ginger, green chilies and cilantro, and naan is sold separately.

Frequently asked questions
What is a karahi?
It is both the deep wok-like pan and the dish cooked in it: meat simmered down in a thick, spiced gravy.
Is there a boneless version?
Yes. The Boneless Lahori Chicken Karahi uses the same Lahori-style onion, tomato and yogurt gravy.
Where can I order it?
At both Lakshmi Chowk locations, Hamilton East and Ancaster, for dine-in, pickup or delivery.
